The 133 mile Northville-Lake Placid Trail begins at the Sacandaga River crossing at
Northville and takes you through the heart of the Adirondack Park to Old
Military Road in Lake Placid. Only the most serious backpacking groups should attempt this end-to-end
trek but several sections make excellent week-long adventures.
Groups of 12 may use all trail sections prior to the beginning of the High
Peaks region (north of Long Lake). Only groups of 8 may continue through to Lake Placid.
Averyville to
Lake Durant
36 miles. 5 day trek. Start at Averyville outside Lake Placid. End at Lake
Durant near Blue Mountain Lake. This trek will take you backpacking on a beautiful section of the Northville Lake
Placid trail where you may only run into a few people all week. The terrain and scenery is
very mixed as you will have the chance to swim in lakes, ponds and rivers, as well as play
in waterfalls. Though most of the hiking is flat, you do reach the highest point on the
NLP on your fourth day.
Transportation fee: $95
