2010 Fees (Except where noted.  All fees subject to change.)
Summer trek program

Six day trek, includes up to 6 participants 

$2,150

Additional participants, each
(be sure to understand group size restrictions for different treks)

There is no charge for the group's leader, at least 21 years of age, if ten paying participants comprise the group.

There is an additional fee for transportation which is determined by the distance from Summit Base for the drop off and pick up for the trek selected.  In 2010, this fee is $0.50 per mile for the total miles necessary to transport the group.  This mileage fee is noted in most of the sample treks listed in the trek section.  This mileage fee may be adjusted depending on fuel prices.

Reservations may be made through the Summit Base Trek coordinators or the Westchester-Putnam Council Camping Department.  Contact us for availability.

  • A $300 non-refundable deposit (which is applied to your total fee) must accompany a Reservation Form.
  • Additional $500 is due by May 1st. (This, too, will be applied to your total fee.)
  • Balance of payment is due by June 1st.

If payment is not received by these dates your reservation is subject to cancellation.

Transportation to/from Westchester/Putnam counties to Summit Base: $100 per van

There is an additional fee for transportation which is determined by the distance from Summit Base for the drop off and pick up for the trek selected.  In 2008, this fee was $0.50 per mile for the total miles necessary to transport the group.  This mileage fee is noted in most of the sample treks listed in the trek section.  This mileage fee may be adjusted depending on fuel prices.

Note that the High Peaks Region is off-limits during March and April (mud season) per NYSDEC.

  • A $1000 non-refundable deposit (which is applied to your total fee) is due with an Reservation form.
  • Balance of payment is due by thirty (30) days prior to activity.

If payment is not received by these dates your reservation is subject to cancellation.

Vans are available to transport from Westchester/Putnam Counties in New York to Summit Base for a fee of $100 per van.


High Adventure programs during summer camp

Transportation to Read
During the summer camp season Read Scout Reservation provides transportation to/from the Westchester / Putnam Counties of NY State.  In 2010 this fee is $70 for a one-way trip.  Indicate the need for this service when registering for your Summit Base experience and more information will be provided.


Refund Policy
The initial reservation deposit is non-refundable.  Groups canceling within 60 days of their summer trek or 2 weeks of their weekend trip will be penalized half of the remaining fees due.

If weather conditions prevent a safe weekend adventure, this can be rescheduled at no additional cost within the same calendar year.  Otherwise, refund policies above apply.

Payments should be sent to the Council Office with checks made payable to Westchester-Putnam Council, BSA.  Be sure to include a description of the payment noting the group / individual the payment is for.
