Troop 25 - Yonkers, NY

Welcome to Troop 25!

Troop 25 is chartered to St. Eugene's Roman Catholic Church in Yonkers, N.Y. We are a diverse troop, with boys from many cultures and backgrounds. We also have a large contingent of very involved parents, whether they are Assistant Scoutmasters, Committee Members or Parent Volunteers! We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere.

A Boy Scout Troop is for boys from 6th through 12th grade or until they turn 18 years old. Troop 25 is open to all boys regardless of economic or social status, race or religious belief.  We take great pride in the diverse backgrounds of our Scouts.  Unfortunately, however, no boy will be able to benefit from our program without his family’s commitment to “help the Troop go.”  Please let us know of your areas of interest.  Many parents are surprised to find that helping their son in Scouting can be both rewarding and fun!

Goals

Scouting is fundamentally a program for boys by boys.  In Scouting we strive to enhance leadership development, self-confidence, character development and better citizenship through an organized program allowing boys to teach and organize themselves under adult supervision. To this end, Troop 25 uses the Patrol Method and prides itself on having a Boy-Led troop. Troop 25 supports training for its junior leaders and encourages scouts to participate in our Council's Youth Leadership training-Patrol Leader Development, Den Chief Training and National Youth Leadership Training.

Meetings

Troop 25 typically meets every Monday during the school year at St. Eugene's Gym from 6:30-8:00 pm. There is no meeting on holidays when the church is closed, e.g., Labor Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Memorial Day.  You should keep the Troop Calendar handy for changes or additions.

Uniforms

The Boys Scouts of America is a uniformed organization.  Wearing the Boy Scout uniform shows a sense of belonging and pride in the Scouting movement.  All members of Troop 25 are required to wear the approved uniform and insignia to all troop meetings and scout related activities, unless otherwise permitted by the Senior Patrol Leader. For weekly troop meetings and outdoor activities, Scouts wear the activity uniform which consists of Troop 25 teeshirt, Boy Scout pants and sneakers. For dress occasions such as Court of Honors, Scouts must wear the full Field Uniform which consists of tan scout shirt, insignia, scout pants, scout belt, sash and boots or shoes. Troop 25 has gently used uniforms new members are welcome to acquire.
