WEBELOS DEN LEADER SPECIFICS TRAINING

$00.00 Fee – THAT’S RIGHT; FREE.  Evening refreshments, and printed materials will be provided. BYOD (bring your own dinner) – we can reheat!

Webelos Den Leader Specifics training is for any Webelos Den Leader, Asst WDL  or other Pack Leader who desires to know the program and policies of running a Webelos Scout Den. Completion of this course, along with Youth Protection training, will qualify you to wear the TRAINED patch beneath your Webelos Den Leader patch.

NOTE: If staying over for OLS4WL course (see next), bring bedding, personal articles etc. Maple Cabin will be available. We’ll even treat you to breakfast!!

OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS for WEBELOS (and any interested) LEADERS
Saturday, April 25  ~  8:30am – 8:30pm
Durland Scout Reservation, Maple Cabin

$25 FEE – Includes lunch, dinner and refreshments,
cracker barrel and printed material

This training is for any Webelos Den Leader or Pack Leader with a desire to plan and carry out a
Webelos level outdoor experience for the boys. When you complete this training, you will have
an increased level of confidence and enthusiasm for planning an age‐appropriate Webelos Den
overnight experience.

The goal of this training is to provide you with skills that assure a Webelos Den overnight event
that is age appropriate, based on the purposes of Cub Scouting, and successful in whetting the
appetite of your Scouts, their parents and the leaders who want to do more in the outdoors.

Elements of this training are:
*Webelos Outdoor Activities: health and safety issues, hiking and camping concerns, outdoor ceremonies, Webelos outdoor related activities (Outdoorsman, Naturalist, Forester, Geologist), values of the outdoor program, identifying and conducting Webelos outdoor activities

*Flag Ceremonies: Procedures for flag raising, lowering and folding.

*Planning Overnight Campouts: key factors, planning and conducting a Webelos overnight campout, joint campouts (with a Boy Scout troop) and Council camping opportunities.

*Campfire Planning: How to plan and direct successful Den campfires and Outdoor

*Skill Workshops in the following areas:
‐First Aid ‐Cooking and sanitation
‐Knots and ropes ‐Campsite selection and tents
‐Wood Tools ‐Bedding and Weather
‐Fire Building

Please wear your uniform. Items to bring: appropriate clothing for weather, Webelos handbook, skit
or song for campfire.
