Boy Scout Leader Training

Every Scout deserves a trained leader.

Required training courses for Boy Scout leaders vary depending on your position. Scout leaders are also encouraged to take additional training courses to become familiar with the roles and responsibilities of each position in the troop.

1.All leaders must complete Youth Protection Training in order to register. This can be done online at My.Scouting.org/TrainingExternal Link.

Want more information about youth protection in the Boy Scout program? Click hereExternal Link for information available in English and Spanish.

2.There you can also find information about: Joining Courses, Orientation Courses, Position-Specific (Role-Based Courses), Supplemental Training Courses, Outdoor Skills Training Courses, Train-the-Trainer Courses, Administration of Training, National Training Conferences, Course Director's and Area Training Conferences as well as information about Training Awards.

3.In order to be considered fully trained, Boy Scout leaders must take Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. For a quick overview of upcoming training sessions, click here.

4.Finally, all leaders should complete Woodbadge and/or Powderhorn Training, the ultimate in leadership and high adventure training.
