Canoe treks: Participants may wish to bring some type of
waterproof bag. Heavy-duty trash bags work fine, to be placed over your
pack. Dry bags are great, but sometimes prove awkward in canoe carry
situations. You will want some type of frame pack to carry your equipment
in.
We suggest keeping clothing in several zip lock bags (You may swamp)
Please do not bring denim jeans or clothing (other than T-shirts) made
of cotton. When cotton becomes wet it loses its ability to insulate and
dries very slowly.
A gear store in the Westchester county (NY) area is American Terrain
in White Plains.
Remember to keep your pack light. Remember to leave room for group
equipment and food.
Unless absolutely essential, please do not bring electronic
communication equipment (cell phones, pagers, etc.) on trek.
Contact our trek coordinator, info summitbase.com,
with any gear questions.
