Climb On!
The Summit Base Program Staff has over 30 years experience teaching and working with today’s youth utilizing the natural setting of the Adirondack Park as it’s outdoor classroom.

Come join New York State Licensed Climbing Guides and National Camp School Climbing Directors for a weekend of basic and intermediate Rock Climbing instruction in the Adirondack Park.

Emphasis of program
This Program is designed to teach scouts the basics knowledge of rock climbing in a safe and controlled environment.  Site selection, safety, belaying skills, methods of movement, top rope and traditional climbing anchors will be the focus of these weekends.  Some Climbing Merit Badge requirements can be fulfilled. Minimum age requirement: 14 years old. Group size limit 12 Participants

Program will be based from the Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in Brant Lake, New York, about 40 minutes north of Lake George. Travel Directions

 

Program Schedule
Friday
Arrive at Camp Read - Meet the Staff

Saturday:     
8:00am Breakfast and discuss the day’s activities
9:00 – Head to climbing site
9:30 – 4:00 Climbing Program - bag lunch provided
Site selection & safety, belaying skills, methods of movement & body positioning, Leave No Trace ethics in climbing
6:00pm – dinner at Curtis S. Read – overview and debrief

Sunday
8:00am – Breakfast Served
9:00am – Head to Climbing Site
9:30 – 12:00 Climbing Program Delivered

Fees below are for 2012

Pricing below for up to 10 participants. Group costs cover all accommodations, equipment, Guides and a participant t-shirt.

Farm House Accommodations: (Indoor housing with 2 full bathrooms and kitchen, dining room and living room.)
$1,500 In Council Troops
$1,700 Out of Council Troops

Summit Base Camping: Group Camp Site. Showerhouse nearby with showers and bathrooms.
$1,300 In Council Troops
$1,500 Out of Council Troops

Payment Schedule
$300 - Non-refundable deposit due at time of reservation.
Balance Due 2 Weeks prior to program date.

$125 for each additional participant     (12 maximum group size)
