Summit Base Is...
A unique collection of challenging outdoor activities.
Surrounded by the tremendous opportunities of the Adirondack
Park, our program creates a full experience for any skill level.
Our trek
program will carry you anywhere in the Park. In camp, you can
rock climb, participate in Project COPE, use our indoor climbing wall or
take advantage of our guide services within our local mountain ranges.
Summit Base is located at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in the
Adirondack Park of New York State.
The
six million acre Adirondack Park is comprised of
breathtaking mountain ranges, inspiring valleys, thousands of pristine
lakes and miles of rivers and trails.
The 'North Country' is an abundance of
opportunities for an individual to test oneself physically, mentally and
emotionally against country as rugged and untamed as it is beautiful.
Upcoming Programs
Winter
Ice climbing weekends in January
through March.
Summer
Choose from several different treks: canoeing,
kayak, backpacking and rockclimbing, including caving.

Staffing
Our programs provide excellent leadership. We staff only BSA National
Camp School (NCS) certified guides. Our COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal
Experience) and climbing programs are overseen by a NCS certified director. We take great pride
in our younger staff who have participated in our programs in the past and
who are now taking on leadership responsibilities.
