Catholic Quality Unit Award - Pope Paul VI

About this Award

Cooperation, development, and program are the key words in the recognition of Catholic chartered units in earning the National Catholic Quality Unit Award - Pope Paul VI. The adult leadership responds to training not only in Scouting, but training in Catholic Scouter Development, and religious counseling. The Scouts in each Pack, Troop, Team, and Crew/Ship respond by participating in the religious emblems program respective of their status in Scouting.

 

Does your unit qualify for the Pope Paul VI Award?

Fill out the application and forwarded it to your local Catholic Committee on Scouting.

Eligibility:

  • Unit must be chartered by a Catholic institution (parish, school, Knights of Columbus).
  • The award criteria are for one calendar year.
  • The requirements as captured on the Pope Paul VI application must be satisfied and acknowledged by both the Unit Leader and the Parish Priest involved in the program.

Completion of the Application:

The completed application is submitted to the WPC Catholic Scouting Committee c/o Council’s office 41 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne NY 10532 or fax 914-773-1411.

It will be reviewed by the WPC Catholic Scouting Committee to determine if the unit satisfies the criteria for this award
and for submission to the NY Archdiocese Catholic Scouting for acceptance. Units who will be recognized as earning this designation will be notified by end of March with the specifics (date, time, logistics) of presentation on Emblem Sunday at St. Patrick's. The letter of acknowledgment and invitation will be mailed to the Unit leader or the Adult Leader submitting the application whose name will be announced to receive the Unit’s Pope Paul VI Award.

Families, Scouts, and Adult Leaders from the Unit are welcome to attend the 2:00 PM Mass and presentation. However, seating at St. Patrick’s Cathedral is limited.
