Adult Recognition 


Don't forget to recognize the adults for their outstanding contributions to the development of your Catholic Youth Ministry. There are several recognitions available. In addition, there are a couple of funds available that directly assist the clergy and international scouting. The Adult Leaders are entitled to wear the BSA Adult Religious Knot if they recieve the St. George recognition.

  • Bronze PelicanExternal Link- used to recognize individuals in your local dioceses for their significant contributions.
  • Brother BarnabasExternal Link- national recognition to recognize for long and meritorious service.
  • Golden AADExternal Link- a fund used to directly support the ministry of our priest chaplains who serve on the Executive Board. Significant contributions of $2,500 or more are recognized by a special medal.
  • Jerusalem CrossExternal Link- used to recognize participants who return to their dioceses and complete a mission project benefiting Catholic youth of their community.
  • Silver St. GeorgeExternal Link- national recogition for the hard work and diligent hours supporting the Catholic Youth Ministry at the national level.
  • Spes MundiExternal Link- a fund used to directly support the International Catholic Conference of Scouting. Significant contributions of $2,500 or more are recognized by a special medal.
  • St. GeorgeExternal Link- used to recognize individuals in your local dioceses for their significant contributions and many years of support for the Catholic Youth Ministry at the local level.
College ScholarshipExternal Link

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® has established theEmmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout ScholarshipExternal Linkto be awarded to five outstanding Catholic high school seniors who are Scouts in a BSA program and continuing their education in college. The requirements are listed in the Eligibility Requirements section on this page. Applications are due to the NCCS office by March 1 of each year.

National Catholic Leadership Development - TrainingExternal Link

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) offers a special training course to diocesan committees who want to prepare Scouters to use Scouting as a form of youth ministry.

The program has four component parts or dimensions. These are: the call to leadership, the call to holiness, the call to conversion, and the call to worship.

Scouting in the Catholic Church - High Adventure TrainingExternal Link

Each year, the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) conducts the "Scouting in the Catholic Church" training conference at Philmont Training Center in Cimarron, NM as part of BSA Relationships Week. The conference brings together religious and lay participants with varying experience in Scouting and the Catholic faith. The goal of the conference is to help the participants understand how Scouting is a Youth Ministry and how to use the information in their dioceses* when talking with Scouters, priests, and youth ministers.
