Boy Scout Religious Emblems

Ad Altare Dei

Eligibility:

  • Registered Boy Scout/ Venture Crew Members of Catholic Faith (Male/Female).
  • Designed for youth 13-14 years old.
  • Active member of the Troop/ Venture Crew for 6 months.
  • Completed 6th grade before starting the program.

About the Emblem:

  • The Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God) program helps Catholic Boy Scouts/ Crew Members of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community.
  • The program is organized in chapters based on the seven Sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth.
  • Conducted during scheduled meetings led by a trained Religious Emblems Counselor, with outside homework, and takes approximately 6-8 months to complete per workbook.

Program Objective:

The most important aspect of the program is that the Scout grows in his/her spiritual experience and his/her relationship to God and the church.

 

Pope Pius XII

Eligibility:

  • Registered Venture Crew Members and Boy Scout of Catholic Faith (Male/Female).
  • Designed for age 15-16 year old, but all registered Venture Crew Members (before their 21st birthday) and all registered Boy Scouts (in high school, before their 18th birthday) are eligible.

About the Emblem:

  • Pope Pius XII is Catholic Scouting's church-related ministries and vocation program.
  • The program deals with different life choices (single, married, religious, ordained), occupations and ministries in the church as calls from God.
  • It includes youth led discussions on current issues facing the church and society, which are normally included as part of a Pius XII retreat or day of recollection.
  • Conducted at scheduled meetings led by the participants, moderated by a trained Religious Emblems Counselor, with outside homework, and takes approximately 9-12 sessions (3-4 months) to complete per workbook.

Program Objective:

To aid the Scout in a realization that his/her faith affects their daily life and how their daily life
affects their faith.

 

Religious Emblem Boards of Review:

Upon satisfactory completion of all religious emblem requirements as documented in the specific Religious Emblem Manual, a scout will obtain the signature of his Scoutmaster, the Emblem Counselor and the Parish Priest in the Emblem Manual acknowledging his completion. After completion, a scout will attend a Westchester-Putnam Council Catholic Scouting Religious Emblem Board of Review which is scheduled during the month of February.
