Cub Scout Recruiting

The focus of this recruiting effort is to enroll first through fifth-grade boys into Cub Scouting and also to recruit new adult Leaders for the Pack.

Nearly all Boy Scouts (over 85%) come from Cub Scouts.

The Council Service Center offers a wide variety of helpful materials, distribution flyers and posters, recruitment advise, training, and handouts to aid in the recruitment process. Each District also has trained and skilled professionals who are always willing to help with ideas and suggestions for building and retaining membership, you may contact your communities professional at the Council Service Center. To contact your district executive for recruiting materials and help, see our Contact UsExternal Link section.

Cub Scout "Boy Talk" How-To Video

A “Boy Talk” is BSA’s term for an in-school presentation to youth about Scouting.

Typically these talks are conducted during the school day, during the same week as the Join Scouting Night.

Many schools permit an adult visit the school & explain what Scouting is and distribute information.

It is highly recommended that your unit do a boy talk. Experience tells us that it can triple your recruitment.

Types of “Boy Talks”: Class to class, Assembly, Lunch time
