Summit Base In Camp Activities

Project COPE is a program developed to emphasize the importance of teamwork to succeed at a common goal. Designed to test a group's ability to work together, completing the course is also a personal success.

COPE Low Course: (Low Ropes Course) Elements of the Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) Course that involve both group interaction and personal challenge. Groups work together to complete each element and help/spot each other.

Project COPE High Course: Our fabulous High COPE Course is a three session experience. We recently improved the program to better suit the needs of older scouts in your troop who are looking for more camp adventure. Designed to develop leadership skills and foster cooperation among scouts, our COPE course will challenge your scouts physically and mentally.

Summit Base Climbing was the original basis behind the development of Summit Base. In the early 90's we built our first indoor climbing wall. The next 25 years would only increase our climbing community, quality staffing and facilities on site. Today we offer two separate on-site climbing experiences. One on our 60 foot indoor/outdoor climbing tower and one at our nearby natural rock cliff.

Zip Line over Lester Pond is a camp favorite amongst scouts of all ages. Swimmers in each troop come up to Summit Base for a refreshing plunge into one of our 3 cool mountain lakes.

Summit Base Out of Camp Activities

ADK Challenge is our hybrid program for older scouts who would like to spend some time in camp with their troop while enjoying all the Adirondack Park has to offer out on the trails ands water ways. Space in this popular program books fast. Reserved for scouts 14+. This is a scout only program, Summit Base provides all adult leadership for the week. Fees: Weekly camp fee +25.00 per scout.  Caving at Eagle Cave at Chimney Mountain is a rare treat for scout in this area. The cave is the largest wild cave in the Adirondack Park. Participation is limited to mature Scouts, at least fourteen years of age, and their leaders. The activity requires basic knowledge of rock climbing and rappelling. Group size, including adults, can be no more than ten persons.  White Water Rafting is a troop favorite in this part of the Southern Adirondacks. The Sacandaga, Indian and Hudson Rivers boast some of the best dam released water in the area. Both rivers offer big white water rafting for those seeking a big day on the Upper Gorge of the Indian River or maybe a more moderate day of rafting is what you are looking for. Either way we will be sure your troop finds the rafting adventure they are looking for.
