What's New in 2011
This year over 125 Units within the Westchester - Putnam Council will use the Trail’s End Popcorn Fundraiser to provide an exciting Scouting program to their youth members. The annual popcorn fundraiser helps create memories that will last a lifetime. Simply put, popcorn allows our Scouts to do more.

The Trail’s End fundraiser is a proven method for your son’s Unit to earn the funds it needs for the upcoming Scouting year. When surveyed, over 90% of customers said they would buy popcorn next year and 70% of all people will buy Trail’s End Popcorn when asked. Unfortunately, only 20% of the people surveyed have been asked to buy popcorn.

When a Scout Troop prepares for a camp out, the food and equipment are distributed among all the members so no one Scout is responsible for carrying the entire load. By encouraging your Scout to set a popcorn sales goal, you provide him with the opportunity to succeed and help his Unit earn the funds necessary to support its program and activities for the upcoming year.

How Parents Can Help
The parent’s role in the popcorn fundraiser is very important. You should help your Scout in every way possible. A parent should:
• Make this a chance for your son to improve his communication skills and gain self confidence
• Help your Scout set a goal to improve his chance of success
• Make the sale a family affair. Take an order form with you to work
• Make sure your son understands that he should always have a parent with him when he is selling and that safety comes first

Earn a Trail’s End Scholarship
Talk to your Unit Kernel about qualifying for the Trail’s End Scholarship Program. It’s open to any Scout who sells popcorn and who meets the qualifying criteria. A Scout can earn 6% of his popcorn sale total each year and let it earn interest until he is ready to use it for his post high school education if he sells $2,500 just once.

Practice role playing with your son on the sales script you will use at the door. For example:

Hello, my name is _______________ (say first name only)
I’m a Scout with Pack/Troop _____ and we’re selling popcorn to help raise money for our Pack/Troop, and also so that I can go to Camp. You can support us by buying some of our delicious popcorn.
(hand the customer the Take Order form and a pen).
You’ll support us, won’t you?
