Council Staffing Adjustments

A Position Taskforce was appointed by Board President – Gordon Elliot with the assistance of the Compensation & Benefits Committee and have made some decisions about some upcoming Staffing needs with in the Council.  It has been decided to not replace the Director of Support Services position (last held by Ed Theetge).  We will instead create a Council Program Director position that will be responsible for:  Durland Operations, Service Center Operations, Cub Scout Camping, Council Program Events – Webelos Klondike, Thunderbird Games, University of Scouting, etc.  This position will also work with a number of the Council Committees as assigned by the Scout Executive.  The new Program Director will report to the Assistant Scout Executive.  We will start the process of hiring for this position in October with a December or January start date.

It was also decided that Rich Stockton would return as the Read Reservation Director for 2019.  This will give him an opportunity to implement some of the things that he learned this past summer.  This will allow the Council to have our most senior staff leader in a position to guide and lead the Reservation during our first year with girls in Scouts BSA at Read.  The overriding  goal of this Taskforce was to put the staffing resources of the Council where they will make the most impact in 2019.

The Council is looking forward and wants to do all we can to make sure that all our members are participating in the best quality program we can provide.  If you have questions about this or any policies of the Board, please feel free to contact Rich Stockton, Westchester-Putnam Council, Scout Executive.
