Troop 5 Yonkers - Honors Former Scoutmaster Moore

On October 13, 2105 Yonkers Troop 5 honored former Scoutmaster Ken Moore for his 3 decades of service in the troop.

Ken Moore, has been participating as a scout and leader with the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 5 for over 3 decades.  Up until late summer, Ken had been Troop 5's scoutmaster.  However, after so many years at the helm he decided to become the troop's chartered organization representative.

The troop honored him with a plaque and tokens of appreciation.  Our district presented Ken with a certificate of appreciation as well.

Troop 5's new Scoutmaster, Harold Thela, served as the evening's master of ceremony.  It was a wonderful evening that also served as court of honor where scouts were elevated in rank and received merit badges for their hard work.

Ken Moore is an example of a leader who has given so much of himself.  Often times we forget how hard our unit leaders are working because they are doing so in silence; just getting the job done.  Ken had been scoutmaster for about 20 years and has made sure that his troop got the best program anyone could offer.  Troop 5 has been a regular at every district event in the last 3 years I have been district chairman.

Ken Moore himself has shown up at council events and has even volunteered to help me out at district-wide membership events.

Ken is a tireless leader who will now be using the skills he learned as a scoutmaster in his new job as Charted Organization Representative.
