Bowl-o-Ree Reception
On Wednesday, April 21st a reception was held at Combe, Inc. for the top fundraisers in this year’s Bowl-O-Ree. After a brief presentation and light supper, these top prize winners were given an opportunity to pick from a variety of prizes for their outstanding work in support of youth with special needs.

A special drawing was also held for a $1,500 bond which incidentally was won by our very top fundraiser. Bill Kelly was given an award for his 30 years of dedicated service and commitment in support of the Bowl-O-Ree.

A good time was had by all. Thank you to all of our Scouts that participated in this year’s Bowl-O-Ree and especially our top fundraisers. And a special thanks to Bill Kelly and his staff of volunteer leaders.

Gathering of Eagles
On February 24, 2010, more than 120 Eagle Scouts from throughout our area attended the 2010 Gathering of Eagles at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough. Ranging in age from 17 to 80 and coming from as far away as Westport, Connecticut, the club was filled with over 2,000 years of Scouting experience. Reflecting today’s mobile society, more than a third of those attending have moved into our area after earning their Eagle Scout Award in 13 different states and 33 different councils!

This third annual evening of networking, reminiscing, fun and fellowship also included videos of Scouting past and present and an extensive collection of Scouting memorabilia presented by Dave Ames. Scott Engle served as master of ceremonies for the brief formal program with presentations by Dave Walsh, and Col. “Ziggy” Bernfeld as well as an update on Scouting from Scout Executive Marc Andreo and a variety of fun awards.

Any Eagle Scout who did not receive notice of this annual event should contact Charlie Rogers at crogers to make sure you are on the list for next year!

Thunderbird Games XVII
Over 2,000 Cub Scouts, parents and leaders participated in the Thunderbird Games held October 17-18 at Croton Point Park. More than 30 games coordinated by various Boy Scout troops and dedicated volunteers were available for the Cubs at this 17th annual event. Our new thirty foot tall climbing wall, the action archery range as well as our traditional games were big attractions throughout the afternoon. A few Packs braved the expected rain and stayed overnight in the camping area and were treated to a traditional campfire, topping off a great day.

Special thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who made the day such a great success!
