Durland Archery Range

The Durland Scout Reservation is committed to promoting the proper training and instruction for recreational gun and archery shooting in accordance with the Boy Scouts of America shooting sports program.

Archery Equipment

Only bows and arrows provided by Durland Scout Reservation may be used on the Archery Range. No personal or compound bows are allowed.

Hours of Operation

The range is available for booking on Saturdays only.

Each Saturday will have 4 periods of live fire available-

Mornings from 9 AM to 11 AM., 11 PM to 1 PM,

Afternoons 1:00-3:00 PM and 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

Qualified Supervision

Council ranges will be under the supervision of a range officer approved by the shooting sports committee, 21 years of age or older, holding a current USA Archery/NFAA Level 1 or Level 2 Instructor certification or has completed BSA Archery Range Training. Range Officers must be approved by council to supervise the Archery Range by completing the 30 minute Orientation Course on the Archery Range. 

The qualified Range Officers must have their certifications WITH THEM for the day of the reservation as well, or they will not be able to open the range.

Reserving the Range

Units can reserve the Durland Archery Range by submitting the proper certifications WITH the Archery Range Reservation Form to the Camping Secretary. Reservations will not be posted until payment has also been made. 

Approved reservations may be extended by the Campmaster or Ranger if the session is not booked and upon payment of appropriate fees.  

Units may request  approved volunteers to run the range if available. Requests must be made at least 2 weeks before event. Event may not take place if qualified supervision is not in place.

Only confirmed reservations from the Camping Secretary 914-449-2612 will be honored.  

Violation of any range safety rules will result in revocation of Durland Range shooting privileges.
