At Durland Scout Reservation
Adventure Day Camp returns to the
Agatha Durland Scout Reservation with an incredible program to spark
your son's sense of adventure! Cub
Scouts can participate in many types of
pursuits including archery, field sports,
BB Range, nature, arts and crafts, Scout
skills, theme related activitieses, climbing
wall and a variety of other events. A
Scout will leave camp with pins, belt
loops and achievements toward his next
rank as well as skills and memories to
last a lifetime.

building a strong STEM education! This
awesome opportunity boosts the spirit
of innovation within your Cub Scout.
Environmental Science, Engineering,
Astronomy, and Paleontology reveal the
beauty and power of the world we
inhabit. The STEM Day Camp will
encourage the natural curiosity of Cub
Scouts and their sense of wonder. A
Scout will leave camp with the NOVA
Award, pins, belt loops and
achievements toward his next rank as
well as skills and memories to last a
lifetime.
Iona Prep, in New Rochelle, has fields for
archery, sports and games, scout skills,
air conditioned gymnasiums, access to
model rocketry & robotics labs, our
climbing wall, and so much more!

Send a Den And Save
If eight boys from the same Pack come to one of
the day camps and an approved adult leader
attends all of the camp with them, the adult
leader receives a $225 stipend and the remaining
seven boys each receive a $25 discount off of their
camp fee! At the resident camps the leader is
charged ½ price of the youth fee.
Can Scouts Serve As Den Leaders?
Boy Scouts who are at least 14 years old may
serve as a Den Chief at the district day camps for
the summer of 2013. They must be approved by
the camp director and will be asked to sign a
contract. Den Chiefs will be required to attend day
camp staff training and are expected to be in
attendance for all fi ve days of the weekly session.
Den Chiefs receive a $100 credit towards their
Camp Read tuition, which must be used during
the 2013 summer season. Any Boy Scout
interested in this position should fill out a Cub
Summer Camps staff application, available below.
Family Opportunities
Parent volunteers are needed at all day camps.
Parents are trained and serve as assistants and
guides. As an incentive for parents, when the
parent is approved by the camp director, pays the
full fee for their son, attends one day of staff
training and the entire week of camp, he/she will
receive a $200 stipend per week volunteered to
off set the cost of camp for his/her son. We also
offer care for siblings ages three and above. Check

information.

Camp Safety and Certifications
The safety of each camper is paramount to our
staff. All staff receive training, and staff in key
positions must complete courses run by the Boy
Scouts of America. Each camp is certified annually by
the National Council, Boy Scouts of America and by
the New York State Health Department.
Are Scholarship Funds Available?
Yes, the Council has funds available which are
awarded based on need. An application which is
available below or from the council
office is required. The application must be
completed by both the parents and the unit
leader. Unless the need is very high, most
scholarships awarded are a portion of the fee.

What Medical Services Are Available?
We have qualified medical personnel in camp at
all times. Local hospitals and ambulances are
notified in writing of our activity and
agree to provide us with emergency services.
What About Medications?
NYS law requires that the medications be brought
to camp in the original container and be under the
control of the Health Officer.
